The school opened in 1992 as a private nursery school. In 1993, 10 pupils formed the pioneer class. The pioneer class sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2000, and the school emerged at the top in the Vihiga District standings with a mean score of 519.4 marks. The leading candidate in the school had 626 out of a possible 700 marks and was subsequently ranked second in Western Province. The candidate with the lowest marks in the same examination obtained 404 marks, a remarkable performance amongst the local schools.

This performance in national examinations has been repeated year after year since then. This is a manifestation of the quality of teaching staff, a dedicated administration, and the exceptional pupils that join the school each year. For the past 23 years, Mudasa has remained the top performing school in the Vihiga District. Mudasa has cut a niche for itself and is now a beacon of academic excellence in the region and the country as a whole.
